The Name Game

My sister-n-law Katie had this post on her blog and I really liked it so I thought I would keep it going. She asked how did you come up with the name for your children? We only have one kid so far and we didn't know what we were having. We had lots of girls names picked out but couldn't agree on a boy's name. We had a rule that if one of us didn't like the name suggested by the other we just said "Veto!" and that was that. Well, there were lots of "Vetoes" going on for the boy names. I really liked Tyson but Sean didn't, yada, yada, yada. We knew if it was a boy it had to sound good with Thomas because that is Sean's middle name. If it was a girl we really liked Reagan Alice (my friend Bree from college had a sister named Reagan and I instantly loved the name when I met her) (Alice is my great-Aunt's name that I was really close to). We also liked Madison Jo (I think Maddy is soooo cute and Jo is my middle name). So we were set on those two girl names throughout the pregnancy but were still unsure about a boy's name. Then one day I realized that both Madison and Reagan are US President's names. So I started looking at other President's and saw Carter. I instantly loved it and mentioned it to Sean--finally there was no "Veto!" So then obviously, we had a boy and Carter Thomas it was. It has always fit him from day one.

So how did you come up with your kids' names?

Random Thoughts

*I worked about 50 hours this week (and one day was a holiday) and still have about 20 more hours of work to do this weekend
*I have a lesson to teach tomorrow on procrastination and haven't even started it. Nice.
*Carter is really starting to like Winnie the Pooh
*I need to go biking and running at some point today
*I am doing a triathlon in Rocky Point, Mexico in May--am I crazy? When do I even have time to train? My friend at work is doing it too and she has a swimming coach and a personal triathlon trainer. Whatever!!!
*Sean and I cleaned the house this morning--it smells so good!
*I cleaned out my bathroom cupboard and makeup drawer. I can't believe how much junk I have accumulated in 5 years
*I can't believe that in May we will have lived in our house for 5 years
*I went through my sweaters today and got rid of some that I bought 10 years ago. Why did I still have them? What, I can afford to buy a new sweater every now and then? Maybe it's because I hardly wear sweaters in Phoenix
*I love Phoenix winters---Carter and I played out back for over an hour today while he ate a popsicle. Nice winter weather.
*We went to the Zoo on Monday--Carter loved the monkeys.
*I am in desperate need to get my hair done but hate paying the money for it. Does that make me cheap?
*I finally found the perfect jeans for me! "the Flirt"--stretch, flare cut at Old Navy--love it.

Gettin' ready

Carter found his way into my bathroom this morning and put on eyeshadow (mostly on his stomach and leg and some on his cheeks). He was also blowdrying his hair when I walked in. Apparently he can climb up on the counter now by pulling out the bottom drawer. Nothing is safe anymore!

Wedding Day

The Klippel Family
Carter loved the Tiki Torches
Carter and Grandpa sitting by the fire (I'm seeing a trend that Carter likes fires...like father like son--hopefully Carter won't start a fire at his school though!!!)
The Food table
The cake--they decided not to do a traditional wedding cake but have cupcakes instead---cute.
The tables for eating. There were different sized "M's" on all the tables for their last name--very cute.
Carter at the temple
The fam at the temple
The bride and groom

Sean's sister Jen got married yesterday. It was a beautiful sealing and a beautiful reception. Carter especially liked all the Tiki Torches around the yard. The food was delish! Sean's twin brother Brandon has started his own business and he did all the food. (creativekitchenco.com) The decorations on the tables were so pretty. Sometimes I wish Sean and I can get married again just so I can decorate and wear a wedding dress. There are so many cute things these days and really pretty dresses. I love the dresses with the colored sash around the waist. I would definitely do brown and blue or brown and green if I had a chance to do it again.
