Student of the Month

Congratulations to Carter for being February Student of the Month! He was soooo excited. Both Grandma and Nana were able to go with me to the assembly to see him get his award. We went to his favorite "Lenny's" for ice cream after the assembly. Good work, Carter-Sauce!

The surgery/recovery

(Just after surgery)(Just before surgery--he looks so excited to be there!)

New phrases heard in the past week:

1. I am going to die (usually said during the night when he wakes up coughing)
2. Why did you make me do this? (also usually said during the night)
3. I told you I didn't want my tonsils out.
4. Take me back to put my tonsils back in!!

I heart Superman.

Superman stopped by to help make applesauce. He's a nice guy. I hope he flies in tomorrow when I am cleaning.

My buddy...

Carter LOVES Jack, his hamster! He spends a lot of time (when we are actually at home) in his tent with his other animals and Jack. Things I have overheard Carter saying while Jack was in his tent with him:

*I love you Jack
*Jack, this is an elephant, this is tiger, this is lion, this is zebra...
*Oh dang it, Jack just went poop in my tent!
*I'm going to get you Jack, you better run fast!

Introducing...

Curious George, no Cailou, no Hamster. Actually his name is Jack! We made a deal with Carter that once he was fully potty trained he could pick out a hamster. Yesterday was the day. He was so excited to pick him out and the cage. Hopefully, his full potty training lasts as long as his excitement! (and longer even)

Potty training experiences...

We went to the store yesterday to pick out his own potty. Today he's: had 1 accident, went on his own and was then cleaning it out with his toothbrush (so helpful!), brought the bowl out to me to show me he went potty. I was excited! Hopefully, the people who were standing in my family room with me looking at my house were just as excited and didn't mind while I excused myself to give Carter a sticker for his chart and his treat. And last but not least, I just asked him to go potty and when he walked in the bathroom, he shut the door and asked me not to come in. Oh great. But he came out showing me that he went to the bathroom. That's good news.

Carter's officially 3 now

Back in December, Sean came home one day and said, "I think we should get Carter a sand box for Christmas. It will keep him busy for hours." We didn't get it.
A couple of days ago I told Wendy that we got Carter a sandbox for his birthday and here is how our conversation went:
Wendy-was Sean ok with that?
Me: ya, he was all for it. in fact he is really excited about it. why?
Wendy-well, when I suggested it for Christmas, Sean said no way because it would be too messy.
Me: really? He told me he thought Carter would play with it for hours.
Wendy-(cracking up) that's what I told him! Nice sales pitch Sean!

I am really thinking that this bug vacuum is going to come in handy for me. I hate bugs. Now Carter can catch them for me if one is inside. We've already had one bug biting incident but I think he'll be out again tomorrow trying to catch more bugs.

Carter wanted an "Alex" (from Madagascar) birthday cake. Here's how it turned out.
I'm so glad we live so close to family. We were able to all get together for a last minute birthday party after school today. It was lots of fun!
The older kids even organized an easter egg hunt for the younger kids.
For the last few weeks I have been asking Carter how old he would be on his birthday. He kept saying, "umm 45." Today, when I asked him, he said, "I'm all grown up, I'm 3." So I guess it's official.

It's just a thing...

Deep breath....it's just a thing, it's just a thing, it's just a thing.

Yes that is my car. Yes many of you know how picky I am about my car(s). Yes I held my composure as I told myself "it is just a thing."

**Update: Here's what happened: Carter and I took my bike tire into the bike store to get some new tubes. He rolled the tire into the store for me. When we got home he wanted to roll the tire inside. He was doing that while I carried the first load of stuff into the house. I came back out to the garage and he had the tire sideways on the hood of the car and was pulling it down. As he pulled it down the tire made some lovely scratches on the car.

Oh, what do you do when your Daddy's gone?

I go on a fun trip to Sierra Vista to see my Uncle Spencer and Aunt Marlee. I spend lots of time at Nana and Grandad's house. I sneak into my mom's bed to sleep every morning!

I play in the dirt with my cousins.

I have my cousins spend the night and have a bonfire, roast marshmellows, and go hottubbing.

I get a new bike and love riding it all over the place!

I chill out in my stroller while my Mom and Aunt Stephanie take turns pushing me during the 2 mile fun run at Youth Olympics.
I miss you Daddy, and ask where you are every day, but boy am I having lots of fun while you're at work!!!

Love, Carter

Carter dressed himself for church today..

Yes those are cleats and yes he did wear a jacket when it is 90 degrees outside. And yes I walked through the halls with him, holding my head up high, all the while being so embarrassed!

Who is this kid?

I had to capture on video what Carter did this morning when we were coming inside. I shut the garage and he ran over to it and hit the sensor so it went back up automatically, and as the garage opened up he grabbed on. What? Where did he learn this? Check it out...(don't mind my voice...I'm a little sick)

Funny kids

Friday morning: Carter came into my office and sat at my computer. He then said, "Bye Mom, I have to work."

Friday afternoon: Caitlyn (my 7 year old niece) called me and said, "Do you still want me to spend the night tonight."

Of course we want you to spend the night Caitlyn--anytime!!

McCormick-Stillman Train Park

Statements from Carter during the last week:
*"I want to ride Grandad's boat"
*"I want to ride the Ranger"
*"I want to ride a tractor"
*"I want to ride a train"

These statements were stated MULTIPLE times!

Apparently the kid likes to ride things! So yesterday I was able to meet one of his requests by taking him to McCormick-Stillman Train Park where we rode the train, over and over again, with a few carousal rides in the mix too. We had a fun picnic and did lots of playing on the playground. It really was a fun day. All night long Carter was talking about the "choo choo ride" and saying "All aboard." Hopefully, this will give him his fill on rides for a little bit!

Soccer Time

Carter is playing on a soccer team right now and is loving it. Here he is at practice today. His favorite thing to say is, "Hi Coach."

Painting, Ranger Rides, An elk, and more...

We just returned from spending the last 5 days at my parent's cabin in Northern Arizona. I LOVE going up to the cabin. My grandparents used to live in their cabin during the summer. I have very fond memories of going up there for a week at a time to stay with my grandparents--playing games, playing outside all day, going for walks with my Grandma. I hope that Carter will grow up with these same kinds of memories. When we left the cabin it was 77 degrees. When we arrived home 2 hours later, it was 112 degrees! What a difference 2 hours makes...I want to go back already.

I had put Carter down for a nap and decided to paint some furniture for my mom. Of course Carter decided to only take an hour nap that day (must have been because I told him that after his nap he could go on a Ranger Ride. *see comments below* He was too excited--I guess I didn't specify how long his nap had to be!). When he woke up I was in the middle of painting. I thought (thought being the key word here) that he would sit outside and watch me paint. Uhh, when has my kid ever sat for more than 2 seconds?!? Needless to say, he ended up "helping" me paint. It took me twice as long to finish paining but he sure did have fun--and isn't that what it is all about anyways--or so I kept telling myself during the whole ordeal!! (I didn't bring any "old" clothes for him so he painted in his diaper)
Fun times with cheese and crackers and Dad. Who knew Sean was so creative?
On Sunday afternoon we were taking a drive and as we looked to the side of the road, here is what we saw...An Elk. It was crazy! The pictures look fake to me--but it is real! There were tons of people pulled over. Some people were even trying to pet it and feed it. All I could picture was it suddenly flipping out and attacking someone! (we had just seen an Episode of "world's most shocking moments caught on tape" the night before and saw several shots of "calm" animals going crazy without a moment's notice). Sean did get out with Carter and Cameron to take a picture.

My parents bought a Ranger for the cabin and Carter loved it. Everyday when he woke up he said, "Ranger Ride!" Even tonight as I was putting him to bed he asked to go on a Ranger Ride.I called Shotgun, but apparently Nana doesn't play that game. We packed a picnic and loaded into the Ranger for a ride into the forest. We found a great spot and had our lunch and the kids played ball. It was so much fun.

Swim Lessons

Carter started his swim lessons this week and is totally loving it. I swear this kid was born to live in the water. He can't get enough of it! But we have to be careful because he has no problem jumping right in, thinking he can swim, without his floaties on. He kept doing that in class yesterday when the teacher was working with another student. It makes me very nervous to have such a fearless kid.

Buzz lightyear

Or Buzz Carter! Here's what happened this week when I went to work and Carter stayed home with Dad. I took this picture of Carter today. I was working from home and had to do some conference calls and virtual training sessions all morning. Carter was getting pretty bored of watching movies and crunching crackers on the ground while I was working (that was a nice surprise when I turned around from my computer!). My friend Nikki offered to come over and take him to the park until Sean got home. I told Carter this is what he was going to do. He got the stroller and sat in it by the front day waiting for Nikki to get here! He kept saying, "Nikki, park" over and over. Somehow I think he missed something because when she got here and he realized I wasn't going too, he lost it. He wouldn't let go of me. So we went to plan B. I took my laptop out back and did my calls/training while Carter played and blew bubbles. Luckily Dad came home soon after and I could lock myself back up in my office for the rest of the day.

Happy 2nd Birthday Carter-sauce!

Carter loved his new basketball hoop that he got for his birthday. He also loved wearing Mom's shirt all day. He went to my drawer, picked out this shirt and wanted to wear it. I was cracking up all day. I don't think his dad thought it was that funny though!!

Birthday Party

We had a last minute Birthday Party for Carter today at Bounce U. Then we came home for donuts and fruit. It was a lot of fun. Thanks to all who came. Here are some of the pictures from Bounce U. Unfortunately, I didn't get a picture of everyone--but a good time was had by all! All of his Forsberg cousins were able to come (except for Carley and Tyler), our neighbor's daughter Abby, our friends Matt & Kim and their two girls, Clarke from church, and Nikki & Jeremy came with their God-daughter Holly. Thanks again for the fun time everyone!!
